Chantel Marie Olufsen ~ my daughter

Luther College:
- Majoring in History and Elementary Education with a minor in Secondary   Education
- Plays in the Varsity Band
- Employed by the Social Science Office, Mabes and as a Teaching Assistant in   kindergarten
- Member of the Race America VI team running from South Padre Island, TX to IA

Valley CEW High School:
- 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo
- Selected for National Honor Society as a Junior in High School
- Interested in becoming a History professor or high school teacher  
- Ran Cross Country and Track for Valley High School
- Swam and dove for Decorah High School
- Participated in the Fall and Spring drama productions
- Played flute in the concert band and Bari-sax in the jazz band
- Studied flute with a Luther Music Professor since age eleven
- Captain of the Valley Drill Team.
- Peer helper and volunteered in the elementary school as a tutor
- Ran in Race America I, II, III, IV and V 
- Employed by Quarry Lodge in Clermont and teaches private swimming lessons.

James Warren Wightman & Janet Helen Wightman ~ parents
My father is a Professor Emeritus (Economics) from State University of Potsdam. They are both retired and enjoying life! They are very fond of traveling in Italy and and visiting their nine grandchildren who live on two continents. My mother feels this is an improvement as we used to be spread out on three continents! They reside in Potsdam, New York, where I grew up. Potsdam is on the Canadian border of New York state. My parents believe that life is to be lived completely with energy, creativity and gusto. They have taught me many things, especially to enjoy life every day! When I reread Ralph Waldo Emerson's definition of success,
I believe that they have achieved such success multiple times.

Household Pets: Shadow ~ the Cat
Shadow is nine-year old, part Himalyan cat that Chantel raised with an eye dropper (his mother was hit by a car when he was two days old). He is stubborn, spoiled and somewhat addled but he is ours! Famous stupid moves that he has made includes trying to catch the bubbles in a bubble bath SPLASH!, waking mom up after she worked a double shift, getting frightened by the roosters and hiding under the foundation of the 1859 house and driving his water dish around on the kitchen floor until it spills! Shadow is afraid of thunder!
